Kashtan Cafe sits quietly on Kehilat Saloniki Street in Haifa, offering a relaxed spot where locals can settle in for a slow morning or a casual catch-up over coffee. This is not a specialty coffee bar chasing the latest trends, but it serves up espresso that's smooth enough to enjoy without bitterness, making it approachable for everyday coffee drinkers.

The atmosphere is unpretentious and cozy, with friendly staff who often include the owners themselves, reinforcing a personal, community-driven vibe. You can find a mix of people here — those looking to savor a comforting pumpkin latte, a fresh-made sandwich or treat themselves to one of their cakes. The menu bridges familiar café comforts and some seasonal specialties like glintwein or a lavender raf, giving a bit of variety beyond your standard coffee shop fare.

Kashtan’s seating includes outdoor tables, which are particularly pleasant for a quiet moment to watch the neighborhood bustle or read a book while enjoying a lighter meal or a good cup of coffee. The flexibility to order savory dishes, such as an omelet or schnitzel sandwich, anytime—rather than just breakfast hours—makes it a practical spot for locals to pop into during the day.

Weekday mornings and early afternoons seem ideal, allowing visitors to take their time without rush. The cafe’s steady service and unhurried environment suit those who value a welcoming corner to unwind or work casually. Shabbat hours add to the accessibility in a city where many places close, making Kashtan a modest but reliable option.

If you’re looking for a place in Haifa where the coffee isn’t pushing perfection but still hits the mark, and the mood is calm yet friendly, Kashtan Cafe delivers a straightforward, homey experience anchored in neighborhood spirit rather than coffee snobbery.

Great place for proper slow morning. They work during shabbat as well. Wide flexability in food and cuisine. Very friendly workers. The owners are standing behind the cash register and in the kitchen. This tells a lot) I will visit the place again 100%

Well, it is not a speciality coffee, so give my discount on it. Having said that, espresso is still drinkable, not bitter. Beans are not burnt to oil with ash, however, roasting can be better. Service is average, but the place is cozy and beautiful. Definitely Haifa needs more places like this, but probably with better coffee.

Great lavender raf and delicious pumpkin latte! I also love their omelet with tomatoes, cucumbers, and herbs, and the best part is you can order it anytime not just for breakfast. Lovely spot to sit outside at a table and enjoy the atmosphere.

The new owners truly turned this place around, it’s much nicer now, has a lot of delicious teas and other drinks, great breakfast dishes, and quite a selection of gluten free desserts

A nicely designed place with a cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, superb (and unusually varied) coffee and great food for breakfasts and brunches. A very pleasant experience overall.

A lovely little cafe with friendly owners and delicious coffee. I was very surprised by the variety on their menu and the iced coffee I ordered was delicious. If you're in the area it's absolutely worth checking out.
